Abstract:

In this study, a composite with an Inconel 718 superalloy matrix—used in high-temperature applications—will be fabricated and characterized using silicon dioxide as an amorphous reinforcement. The manufacturing process will be based on selective laser melting (SLM) followed by heat treatment. Additionally, mechanical properties, including strength at room and high temperatures and creep resistance at elevated temperatures, will be investigated. This research is expected to introduce a new approach for improving the mechanical properties of Inconel 718 superalloy-based composites reinforced with amorphous particles, fabricated via the selective laser melting process. The findings could be beneficial for industries seeking composite materials with enhanced mechanical properties and higher operating temperatures.
